Reviews For: A Cynic's view on Romance
fleur de l'est 2008-04-10 . chapter 1
I think this is more sad than cynical, ie a glimpse of love from the inside, rather than the outside. Because although the poem sees through the tragic side of love it's just being compassionate and the impression is you're still in search.. But the literacy and image are beautiful, and I especially liked the structure of the poem. Well done =D

Brilliant. Yes, we all want a happy ending in the end but sometimes it just doesn't work that way. Spend a lot of time pining, hoping for stupid happy ever afters but it all ends in naught. Until you're sick and tired of love. Well, anyways, enough of that. Nice work, good job.

I agree with the previous reviewers, especially the first stanza is really powerful and unexpected. I also like the (half-)rhymes. You do not waste any words, the poem is very concise and to-the-point, I like that. And I like the fact that, although it definitely is a cynic's view of romance, the last few lines nervertheless express a longing for something better, as if the cynic was secretly yearning to be disproved after all. ;-)

Hey, I know it's been a while but I got the message that you'd posted something so I thought I'd come say hello.
I really liked this poem. I think the best part was the opening stanza. It was very abrupt and unexpected. Rather like shooting a shotgun actually. I'm glad to see you're still writing.
