This story is very sweet and sad. It makes me feel woeful inside. I like your characters; you have developed them well even with a short amount of time to actually introduce them. I do like to point out that you mentioned a Vietnamese town of Iwo Jima. Iwo Jima is an island near Japan and is most famous for the Battle of Iwo Jima during WWII. I don't think there would be a town in Vietnam named Iwo Jima, considering it isn't really related to the Vietnamese language. Otherwise, great story!
