| kIng RICHARD the tHird 2008-05-03 ch 1, anon. | abuseJust a few things to say.. 1. Who is M.J Roy, and why does he/she care so much. 2. Seriously, MJR, shut up 3. the combined flatus gas produced by all the plankton in the world adds more CO2 to the atmosphere each year than all the cars in the world do. 4. I don't even remember the statistics on what a volcano (such as the one that just erupted) puts into the air. 5. (once again, NASA report) The sun just entered its 24th cycle a few months ago, and will be growing and becoming hotter. |

| Dead Skunk 2008-04-29 ch 1, | abuseI agree with most of what you said. But I am reviewing because "M.J. Roy's" review very deeply annoys me. The earth goes through cycles of warmth and coldness, and is not just gradually heating up. Right now it is getting warmer, and until the future we do not know how much warmer the Earth will become. What mostly annoys me and makes me furiously angry about his review is this statement: "I take it that you don't believe in evolution, either? If you are going to believe in science, believe in ALL of science. Global warming is SCIENCE. It is FACT as all those with a brain define it." To say that evolution is a fact is to be an ignorant bum who doesn't know the meaning of a fact. A fact is something that can be proven. Were you there when life came into existence? Unless you were, there is absolutely no "factliness" about evolution. Evolution is a scientifical theory, and to say that Global Warming will continue is a theory, not a fact. Anything that happened before humans existed cannot be said to be a fact, and anything that supposedly will happen in the future cannot be considered a fact either. By believing evolution as a fact you are showing just as much so-called "blind-faith" as those who believe the existence of God to be a fact. And this is where my argument would become more effective if I said I didn't believe in God, but unfortunately I do, and thus people will lose a ton of respect for what I just said. Lastly, what is with people and getting annoyed when people mix religion with other topics? In your review you mixed evolution with global warming. Hypocrite. The world is afflicted with religion-phobia. M.J. Roy, anyone with half a brain, I'm afraid, would agree that you are missing half of your brain. And Voronwe is a moron themself. Good work, mouringrose. I have nothing else to comment on about your writing. |
| ShakespeareFan 2008-04-29 ch 1, anon. | abuseI liked it- very nice. I wish more people would see that there's two sides of the "global warming" issue |
| kIng RICHARD the tHird 2008-04-27 ch 1, anon. | abuseA report from NASA stated that the temperature on mars has risen over 1.5 degrees over the last 20 years, which is similar to the warming pattern on earth. In otehr words, we are not teh only cause, and we can not reverse it. Only the giant ball of fire in the sky can. - -shutter labs --we do what we must, because, we can. |
| flawlessangel08 2008-04-27 ch 1, | abuseGood essay, you have made good points. It is clear we are damaging the earth but it is not clear whether we are causing global warming or if this is a natural event. Scientists also believe we are heading to another ice age, which makes scence because the sun it cooling down . We however will never stop littering or creating waste, there is too many people who do not care and polititions are very bad role models. |
| Nevers and Maybes 2008-04-25 ch 1, | abuseVery well written! I can see where you are coming from, and this has made me think on the topic at hand. |
| Voronwe 2008-04-24 ch 1, | abuseDitto what he said. As a general statement, if you're trying to present a moronic argument, don't sound so moronic when stating it. Just a thought. |
| M.J. Roy 2008-04-24 ch 1, | abuse"If a florescent light breaks, mercury is released into the air." As quoted from a National Geographic article: " "There's an extremely small amount of mercury in those bulbs [about five milligrams]," Hogue said. "It's a very minimal risk" and can easily be cleaned up at home. One CFL contains a hundred times less mercury than is found in a single dental amalgam filling or old-style glass thermometer, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)." Is there such thing as global warming? What causes it, if there is such a thing? Global warming is a very real thing. It has been in happening since the Earth was first formed, due to the greenhouse effect, which is basically the sun's rays coming into Earth, and getting trapped in the atmosphere, heating it up. That's all that global warming is. The warming of the globe. There will be (and have been) many consequences of that. Humans have contributed to the effect through excess carbon emissions (and other 'greenhouse gases') from burning fossil fuels among other things. Many scientists also disbelieve that mankind is the cause of global warming. Mankind is certainly not the only cause of global warming, but we definitely do contribute to it. And if we would like to continue living in the same way we do now, then we are the only species that can consciously do something about it. global warming is far from being impossible to deny I take it that you don't believe in evolution, either? If you are going to believe in science, believe in ALL of science. Global warming is SCIENCE. It is FACT as all those with a brain define it. And if we want to lower CO2 output, we should all stop breathing. How about planting more trees? How about burning less fossil fuels? Stop being drastic. An increase in wind shear could counteract the effect of rising sea surface temperatures and actually inhibit hurricane formation. In an article describing a study done about wind shear reducing hurricanes: "However, the study does identify other regions, such as the western tropical Pacific, where global warming does cause the environment to become more favorable for hurricanes. "This study does not, in any way, undermine the widespread consensus in the scientific community about the reality of global warming," said Soden. "In fact, the wind shear changes are driven by global warming."" The photo of polar bears on a melting iceberg- so iconic of global warming- is a sham. It was taken in the middle of summer, three years ago. For those of you who don’t know, that’s the hot season. The point of global warming is that the 'hot' season will last longer and longer, shortening the polar bears' hunting season. That is why they are attacking people. They don't have enough food. the polar bear need more ice to survive They don't need more ice, rather, they need colder weather--which usually comes with ice. Ice alone will not save them, they need the climate to be right for the animals that they eat to be available. My, my, I would have respected your argument about the two houses if you hadn't blatantly plagiarized the entire thing. Pathetic. At least restate it in your own words, or cite your source. You did a hilarious job of making it look like you knew what you were talking about, but anyone with half a brain, I'm afraid, would be able to tell the difference. Oh, and a bit of advice--NEVER mix science and religion. Ever. Keep them in separate essays. The two will never coincide. |
