I absolutely love your story! It's fantastic!
I expected, if I was lucky, to get a fairly decent fantasy story that, while good and with a decent plot, still has the same trends and general feeling of most fantasy stories.
(I read scepter of light etc a while ago so I knew you could write and vaguely what to expect, unfortunately I don't think I made it past the first 3 chapters of . . . the one with a girl who controls fire and is trying to save her brother. She annoyed me and I could just see the entire plot stretched out before me and couldn't be bothered)
Anyway, back on track, this is really good!
I love that you didn't introduce the female character straight away and have parallel stories, it made me actually take his relationship with Regan seriously - the prologue was pure genius.
And you actually make me laugh out loud (as in when no one's around, ever noticed how people generally don't laugh at things they find funny unless in public, weird . . . or it means that subconsciously we're all drama queens/in search of "community spirit" and all that jazz).
Love Iain, - I mean allergic to goblins! That was fantastic! Although would have been better if he'd have meant to be taken seriously.
It just is genuinly funny without feeling the need to CNSTANTLY make itself funny.

Oh wow, ok so i think that this is now one of my favourite stories from you. And i know that i have so many favourites of yours but im always awebound at the end of your stories becasue they're so amazing! Im lucky i looked back at your profile because i was going to read the fith book in this stories as it was your latest work and i didn't realise there were other stories.
I really loved that ending, really happy and sweet, but not too cheesy and the act that Grif came back, which was a suprise but i liked it- im thinking mabye im going to see more of him in the next stories??- which makes me exited because hes an interesting character.
I know that this was ages back, and i should of reviewed then but i really liked the way you opened it. It drew me in more than your other stories and though you said you stole things from this story, to put into the others, like jack and darik and horave, it didn't notice. I suppose you got the horavian (i dont even know if thats how you would refer to them) garb form this story, but the rest of Badikawa was so interesting and unique with all the mist and mud and i liked the idea of colour being the fashion in the city.
Basically so exited to read the next one, and even more in awe of your witing skills!

I (unsurprisingly) loved this story. I stayed up late just to read it, and tomorrow I will most likely resemble a panda around the eyes. I think it's safe to say that it was worth the scary panda visage. Until I finish book 2!
