This seems very well thought-out.

I liked how you actually described the technology here, something I often have a problem with in sci-fi stories. It seems very believable the way the narrator puts it (at least as far I can judge.)

The ending is a little sad as well, though it seemed inevitable. Despite everything, though, I almost hoped that he would change his mind and become even more determined to conquer his enemies.
