One-Hand Clap 2008-06-12 . chapter 1I went through this as well - the ennui that seems to settle after you 'recover'. There is nothing left to do once things have settled. You find it hard to accept what you are - so you make them some distant relative. A part of you now quiet and wilting, kept like an old Halloween costume. This poem was heart-achingly honest without being melodramatic, which was calming and refreshing to find on fictionpress. The thoughtfullness, the seeming 'musing' felt from line to line, is also great. Some of the line breaks seemed strangely random, though, and in the line 'comforting sadness', I think a more powerful word should be surrogated for 'comforting'. Just my opinion, however!
