quotata 2009-11-30 . chapter 1
I'm a bit conflicted in my opinion of this one-shot. I'm glad that my parents gave me a "normal" English name rather than making me suffer through ignorant school yard teasing - ALTHOUGH, "Jade", as a literal translation would have been acceptable.. but that wouldn't have worked as my chinese first name has two characters. The "Jade" bit shared with most of the female cousins on my dad's side, as well as my sister. The second translates to "Forest".. and I can just imagine Forrest Gump jokes...

That LONG explanation was to back up why I liked the story. The associations..

I'm unsure of the ending though. I'm amused that Kenneth was most likely, extremely proud of himself for thinking up such a pun, if it can be called that. But I feel sort of degraded too..
Lol *shrug*

Big thumbs up on the car description. Red and fancy is the best way to describe it for me =P

Good Luck with exams. Hope you'll be able to update HL after that.

Ha, this is absolutely adorable. Kitty sounds like me. -girl who likes to meow too here-

Hey, my birthday's a week after hers too! :O

"She had achieved the Chinese stereotype standard, and she was damn proud of it."

HA, that's what I aim for as well!

funny! being chinese, i can totally relate.
first it was my chinese name (which sounds AWFUL when people say it with an american accent), and then, THEN, when i got my names switched around, some people couldn't even pronounce my ENGLISH name!

"wait... jenny?"
"no... it's like in harry potter."
"oh. then gi-ny." (using a soft G. phail!)

but i have to say... as much as i sympathize with a person named kitty, i would feel even worse for a person who was called **.

This is hilarious! The ending is awesome! Wow, your friend must feel pretty special to have a story not only written for her, but published on here for all to see. my only criticism is that it seemed to be missing something. I'm not exactly sure what its missing per se, it just left me wanting me from it. I think it might have had something to do with the whole characterisation of Kitty and Kenneth. While their persoanilties were pretty well developed there was something lacking, which meant, in part at least that I couldn't quite grasp the whole intense situation and ending at its full impact. Still an awesome one-shot. Good job :)

Yes, I decided to read this. Told you I would when you were gone!

You are one sick, sick puppy. :p This is vulgar and crude. I'm almost flabbergasted (yes, people still use that word) by the last line. Kitty ** was one thing (I got a kick out of that), but the last line is so overtly perverted. I love it. :p

A small mistake I found--"know what she wanted the major in"-->"to" major in, instead of "the."

In terms of pacing, this needs more work. I think it needs MORE in general. More Kitty, more of her personality, and definitely more Kenneth! I mean, why fall hard because he called her **? I thought that was a bit unclear. Is it because he used a word that wasn't her name? Did he know that she disliked her name? Did she like the fact that what he said was perverted? Is Kitty one of those shy-girl-turned-** we were talking about?

:P

Lovely ending! Haha.
My friend's cat is named Mao, because her mum wouldn't let her dad name it Cat, so he settled for the next best thing :)
I love both these one shots, although I have to say I preferred The Day I Stalked Him. Maybe cos its longer? I dunno.
I wish you'd do more one shots - I love one shots. Don't take so long to write, either (;
Peace!

kittenhood 2009-07-01 . chapter 1
My name's Catherine and during primary school I was known as Cathy, or rather Cat. Once in grade 6, we had to act out this scene from the book we were reading. This book was 'The Cay' and if you've read it you'd know that the main characters are a boy, old man, and a cat. It was in groups of three and guess which role I was cast as...Stew Cat. While they were spouting their lines I was supposed to sit there while they patted me and pur. When we performed, this annoying kid in the front had to point at me and laugh at my misfortune, stupid kid.

I'm Chinese too :)

My english name is actually my middle name. My chinese name roughly translates to 'heart's happiness'. No one can pronounce it at school. Everytime they want to know who I am on the role, I just say, "err yea...I'm the one who's name starts with X".

I feel for Kitty, I really do. But at least people don't think she looks like or acts like a cat too. Feel sorry for me.

hello?

Omg, that was good~! and i really mean it, i seldom ever review anyone and when i do, they have to be extraordinary writers.

i mean, for a while, i was a bit tangled and i laughed myself stupid at the end.

That was a good use of irony and cliche.

LOL, i loved your other one shot as well, the day i stalked him.

i think your stories are so good, because they arent centred on just romance.

i think a good plot plus good dialogue from characters are really riveting.

hahahaa, that was so funny.
i love Kitty/Melissa and Kenneth.
what's hilarious is that i'm in the middle of writing a chaptered story with the main dude equaling a last name of Montgomery too. :P

-Kristy. :)

& now i've officially read everything of Vena Cava's!
i don't feel so accomplished - i miss the stories already.

No I think the author is right. Over here we put English name-Chinese name-surname. Usually the Chinese name just becomes the middle name. And chinese people name their kids weird stuff all the time. Just like english parents (celebs haha) who name their kids "Apple" and stuff. Not saying its the majority but it happens.
terrorofthehighway 2009-04-26 . chapter 1
Erm, chinese names are surname-name.
If they have an English name, it's English name-surname-name.
And no Chinese names their kid after objects. It's after virtues or precious objects. And the cat ranks pretty low on the list of things that you'ld name your kid after.
