its.Nothing.Special 2008-07-12 . chapter 1Oh, wow. Wowowowow. That was gorgeous. So poignant. Thanks for painting such a heart-warming picture for us. To be honest, I thought at first that this proposal was a little, I don't know, pretentious? Like those people you see proposing when the ball drops in Time Square? Yeah, but my view changed so much as I read on. Because this proposal was so PERSONAL, and I know he was not doing it for show. It just seemed so much more sincere than people fighting to get the most intimate moment of their lives on camera. But I digress.
[How can she say no when the crowd is hooting and hollering and his voice is so earnest and she loves him more than anything else?] That was so genuine and beautiful and I like how you included the audience's impact here. One of my favorite sentences in this whole piece.
[“Here’s the right answer to the big question,” he toasts. . .] I'm not sure if you wanted a "to" after the "Here's" since that was the pattern you were following, and the general toast pattern.
[Because he knows: years from now when her children ask her what it means to earn wings liker their father. . .] I think you meant "like," and not "liker." But that ending sentence was absolutely lovely, so wonderful I can't even begin to describe how much it moved me.
[When he steps back into the line his eyes never leave her. Never once.] I just LOVED that you included this detail in there. There is something so stirring about that. It just made me smile and put a hand to my mouth.
And this was so beautiful I had to close my eyes and relish in the moment you captured for us. Thank you so much for sharing. Amazing work.
