It has a very sad, foreboding, and deep dark tone to it.
Good job! :]

Hey! I got it right! It does sound like Langston Hughes... I actually was thinking that before I went back up to read the author's note. I wrote a lot in 8th grade too, but usually only because I would get so bored in all my classes. French- Yawn! Let's write a poem what the sky is like today instead... Algebra- Forget this... Hmm... I wonder what it would sound like to write a poem as a cross between William Shakespeare and Edgar Allan Poe...? The whole year went something like that. In other words you are very lucky to have gotten to have an actual creative writing class. I haven't had a class like that in a while. 4th grade was the last time I remember getting to write things for school.
Anyways it's a good poem. I'm going to go read your others now too.

Great! I actually once read a poem by a student solely based on your first line "I am a blank piece on canvas, just ready to be painted on." She extended that metaphor and did a whole poem about this painting in relation to her and her life. Awesome work, though. I love the variety of your poem and the vivid images. Keep writing, k.

that was similar to Langston Hughes, especially the part with the piano and the imagery of the cloud. Quite nice.

Actually, this poem reminded of that song 'Unwritten'. Have you heard it? The poem was good and very deep.
Great job!
