I got the impression this was about falling asleep next to someone, but after rereading the summary and glancing at the genre, I'm left thinking it's about death... Which fits it just as well, but somehow seems less simplistic in nature. Anyway, I like it tons :). The only line that doesn't seem to fit stylistically is "Dark, dark so dark it is." But it's likely because I'm not familiar with your work :).
