Interesting, I must admit, but for a short story it lacked a drawing interest in the beginning and explanation, though you did explain more in your author's notes. But for a short story to really be successful, you need to be able to catch a reader's attention and keep them interested, while providing enough explanation and background so they can understand exactly what is happening. Still, this short story of yours was fairly well-written and I managed to read it all the way to the end, which is unusual for me. Most people here on fictionpress can barely write, though I can see they love it. So I congratulate you on keeping my attention and I'll probably check out more of your writing now.

It might be good as a novel. I definitely liked this bit. A man dying without leaving a name, though, is certainly sad.

I will be keeping an eye on this one. I would like to see what direction it takes.
