Well, I was really enjoying this until it ended so abruptly...and I never got why the female pirates were introduced? I did like the twist of Toams being Laurence's half-brother though!

Ok...um...huh? I am absolutely confused. The story is wonderful but it has way too many loose ends. There is so much missing that it doesn't make sense. It seems like a weird rushed ending as if you just said "Eff it! I'm done." I like the story, but I just wish you had developed it further into what it could have been.

Very interesting for a first chapter. I like the idea already and it seems that everything isn't perfect in this story. I like that. It makes the story more realistic! great job!

Wow... That Grall guy is meaner than he originally sounded, it seemed. I mean, even if the country IS entirely dead... does he really want everyone on his ship to feel dispair and like there is nothing left for them to live for than the captain's orders? Or maybe he does. Who knows, but it makes for a very intense plot ;)

Wow. I'd say poor Laurent, but he completely just blocked his chance to get away. I mean, wouldn't pretending like you were going to cooperate have worked loads better? THough, I guess that was a typical response of someone who was so clouded by grief and anger that they couldn't think rationally, so I applaud you for your realism :)

Wow, what an intense and depressing chapter. It was awesome though. Very descriptive, and every word just strung me along to want to read more. I feel sad for and with Laurent. I mean, to have thought he'd lost everything, only to lost more in the end... wow... I cannot wait to see where chapter two leaves him.
