It's kind of weird how suddenly parent's reactions change over a short period of time...although, if you were just saying it to get attention, it could be understandable...hahhah.

Ahh, see, your mistake in telling them that no one loves you the second time is that there were no tears. Because without the tears, it does sort of seem that you were doing it to get attention, haha.

But that is a pretty dark thought, even for a 5 or 6 year-old. I do, however, love the fact that your parents basically told you to suck it up. But that is totally biased because I'm very harsh on today's parenting methods and all of the ** political correctness. I feel a tangent coming on, but I'll save that for a later time.

This made me smile. I used to do the same thing, except we don't have to sing the anthem every day, we just have to say the Pledge of Allegiance. Well, kids in school today have to do that at least, I don't anymore since I'm in college and we're all "independent". We probably don't sing the anthem because of the high pitch for the line "And the rocket's red glare", which hardly anyone can master.

My friend Lauren and I would stand up with the rest of the class but when they all turned their backs to us to face the flag, we would push and wrestle each other until it was done. I'm pretty sure no one even knew, haha. Oh middle school, how I miss you sometimes.

I'm really glad you're doing this series, and most of all, I'm glad you're writing again. :)

Funny how you described the situation! It keeps you thinking, how did the teacher know that you didn't actually sing? Nice one, post more!

I like the idea of writing a recollection of your past memories--it shows you the most important and vital parts of anyone's life. Anyone reading this can probably learn something too
