Reviews For: Gender Roles
Collegegirl89 2009-07-06 . chapter 1
Ohh! I did a paper on this for my Child Psychology class. It was on gender schemas and socialization of children. You should read "The Lenses of Gender: Transforming the Debate on Sexuality and Equality" if you find this interesting. She's a genius.

This is nice and true, i do not feel for stereotypes as far as sexuality goes and neither do I follow them, I admit that women were not giving the physical strength of men, but they are not a weaker gender...

you should publish this in a newspaper or something. its really analytical and informative. it was quite interesting to see such a big current social issue summed up in a few paragraphs. great work.

Sakina the Fallen Angel 2009-06-27 . chapter 1
Argh, the stereotypes anger me so much! This essay was a good general overview of the male/female situation; it could be improved by being more specific in places, e.g. giving a few examples of role reversal; maybe mention the Suffragettes? All in all, this was well written and easy to follow. I can't say I enjoyed reading it, but you observed and commented well on the situation.

Gender Roles are ridiculous... I don't understand it sometimes.. I say let a girl dress up in a firefighter outfit.. She has just as much capabilities as a man does.. And if a girl starts a fight with a guy she could get an equal opportunity a$$ whoopin... I don't really think like that for either of those situations.. but I do know where you're coming from.. I do think that some gender roles are built because they are more effective..

Interesting...I suppose you are a...feminist? Nah, I believe that women really run the show, we just put up with men to make them feel needed.

"breadwinners. and they are" = the period should be a comma?

You brought up some nice points. A small point though; I don't think that because you have or don't have a female president tells if you are an equal country or not. When it comes to President roles it is competence that should determine. Gender doesn't matter.

Overall my fav part was where you talked about the clothing; it degreades men but empowers women. That's a nice thought since it's obviously true :/ Blech.

Ah well. Times are changing!

The Vegetarian Serial Killer 2008-12-24 . chapter 1
Why didn't you talk more about boys and their assigned gender roles? You started off the essay with a quote that talks about the unfair assignation of the American boy, and yet the rest of the essay talked about how girls have been oppressed and are reversing their expectations. Just put about fifteen more minutes of writing in this, and I think you'll have a really good essay.

Pay it forward.

Fights-With-Words 2008-12-22 . chapter 1
This essay is well written, and puts your point out in a clear and precise manner. I enjoyed reading this. That said, and this is merely in the interest of productivity: Try for a little more in the way of backing up your view. Look for more historical and current times example to use. You've made your point eloquently, now make your logic unassailable. Good stuff, -General
Irresistible Apple 2008-12-13 . chapter 1
This is very true, and just the right length. You didn't ramble on, you spoke your mind intelligently. I really liked how you stated your opinions, and then went on to prove yourself right. Very nicely done!
