Great job with describing the endothermic nature of humans. I particularly enjoyed the imagery envoked by: " Even the small steps I must make this day
Seem to me to be those of a child in his father's shoes".

I can see myself standing in the hallway, during the dead of winter, just praying that I can make it to the coffee pot.
