Thoughtful Silence 2009-01-02 . chapter 1All right, I'm a little out of my depth with the subject matter, but I'll try my best at reviewing.
As to how this essay is written, I think it is well-constructed with a clear argument and some effective quotes and statistics. The structure is good and your syntax and diction are impressive. Your third paragraph however seems to only be about Woolf's essay which doesn't reflect your argument that things have changed since her time as you are stating that things changed DURING her time.
As for constructive criticism, I believe you have narrowed your argument too much, focussing merely on the USA. I mean, Woolf herself was British, I believe. For instance, in the UK, Margaret Thatcher was leader of the Conservative party as early as 1975, eventually becoming Prime Minister four years later. Also, I think using Sarah Palin as an example wasn't the best choice, and not only because she herself is against same-sex marriages which contradicts your later usage of the DOB.
Also, in your penultimate paragraph, you state that "but even today, a woman only earns 75 of every dollar that a white male earns for the same job" which doesn't reflect your conclusion.
