I liked that he didn't cave in, for whatever reason. It's more bitter this way and won't end in the "my fling since 3 months ago and I will live as vampires forever and ever".

I also enjoyed that she was so crazy as to stab herself, haha. I mean, not that I advocate insanity or anything, but dang dude! Strange actions prove interesting, you know?

Nice piece. I'd like if you offered some insight as to why he wouldnt turn her into a vamp though (compassion? or does he just not like her enough?)
