I love your first line. It's a very interesting and beautiful simile.

Lovely bit of prose here. My favorite is the first line: "Leaves fall from trees like pages torn from calendars." What I love so much about it is not just the imagery, though that, of course, is very beautiful. Most people write it the other way around: "Pages torn from calendars like leaves falling from trees" because "leaves" is the more natural of the two. I like that you did it the other way. Creative. Stunning. Kudos.
