Vindictive in this case is unneccessary. I hate Ad-verbs! Sorry had to point it out, going to read the rest now. :)

As much as you always claimed not to be able to do short stories, after I read this one I'm left thinking "You must be joking!" Seriously, the way you described every moment of this story is etched with such vivid colors and emotion that I see myself there. I can see how much of yourself you put in this story, so I think that's why I love it so much. Wonderful!
