I disagree.

I read the story a while ago, but from what I can recall, oppression and repression of individuality were thematic. Not equality and freedom.

It’s true, that it’s easy to compare students, but it’s actually not right. The right way to do it, would make it impossible. Equal means the same, and no one is exactly the same.
