nice little piece. i know it's supposed to be short and simple to be powerful, but i think you could add a little more... maybe about the small town, like your other reviewer says, or about where you were when he said it, or some small detail to make it unique to you. but. love the title, love what you have. very affecting and so true. nice write.

short but an affecting piece. very thought provoking. i especially like how the title isn't immediately obvious, but after a reread it fits and influences the whole meaning of the piece. what this made me think of was a small community and the rumors that circulate, and how even so there's so much that goes on unseen in people's lives, and then looking at it in retrospect and trying to make sense of it. that's my interpretation, anyway.
