John won't kiss him in front of the kids? Shame on him. Showing affection to your partner in front of your children is a basic duty of parenthood to show kids that they aren't the center of your world and what a good relationship looks like when they go out to find their own. But I'm not sure my kids see it the same way.

I see you've joined the Freak-Of-Spade challenge. I would myself but I've never been very good at writing when given guidelines.

I liked it! Different from the other entries I've read so far! I like the breaking free aspect of it, and that the mother was abusive for once, it's always the poor old father who is abusive.

And I'm glad no one died, though I haven't yet read one where someone did, it's not one of the rules is it? I don't think so... Anyway!
