Okay, I /definitely/ liked your format and the italics. And if FictionPress didn't let you do it the way you wanted to, I would've loved to see how awesome it originally was. ;D And a few of my favorite lines are,

A flower in full bloom,
absorbing my soul with a kiss of velvet –

like waves crashing endlessly into the seashore;
yet the next tide still rises.

-and the ending, as well. With the the way you started, I think the ending isn't dull at all and really quite compliments the idea of the poem. ^_^ The imagery was lovely and normally, I might say this was a tad wordy, but I think that it worked in this piece.
