I'm liking this - am also getting a very strong hunch we're about to see a spanner thrown in the works...sure Nicole might be insistent they're only friends to other people, and that can easily be explainable because she's never had a boyfriend...but seeing as this is a story with so much more out of the box, like you promised, I think we're going to see why very soon...
