Silent Day Dreams 2009-07-08 . chapter 1Oh my goodness. I think I'm psychic or something. After hearing about Aras and then meeting Rafe, in my head I was thinking "He's Aras! Oh my great flying gooses! He's Aras! I swear it!". I was utterly sure of it and then when Rafe was talking about Aras and the house and all that jazz, I was saying "Oh my gosh. I was wrong? I was so sure!". And then you went and totally screwed with my head at the end by making Rafe Aras! Oh my vociferous squealing pigs, I almost died right then and there, but I didn't, which is slightly obvious as I'm writing this, so therefore I'm not dead. All in all, I loved it. I'll admit it even if my head is still reeling with the Aras-is-really-Rafe revelation. Marvelous, fantastic, overwhelming job missy. Keep up the fantastic writing!
(No offense on the missy thing by the way, just something I say) |

R.M.Whitaker 2009-02-06 . chapter 1I'm sure you can imagine my surprise, and delight, when I saw an alert from you in my inbox! This was a very good short story! I can never seem to write those, but you always do them so well! And I can really see the improvements to your writing since you've been at school. I thought you were amazing before, but you're even better now!
My favorite paragraph was the one about the house being alive. Very, very, very good description, I thought! And to end the paragraph with "It was breathing"-! I loved it! |
best laid plans 2009-02-06 . chapter 1So, I saw this new story in my email today and I was immediately happy. haha. And although I should probably review Solitaire first,(It has been almost a year, I believe. Someone should slap me.) I couldn't resist reviewing this.
Violet was completely relatable to me. Maybe it's the fact that I dream up all these crazy fairy-tale like situations. And like hers, they always seem to reroute to reality, as unfortunate as that is. She's simple, but yet she's a great character. I'm tired of reading the stories where each character has about 9 million problems all fit into one paragraph. Yucky. I feel sorry for her at the end, but, eh, what ever goes the way the story books do?
When I first read of Rafe I didnt' want him to be there, simple because the way Violet dreamed of Aras. When I last read of Rafe, I didn't want him to be there, and this time is was because he was Aras. Though I have to give him credit, the eating babies part was quite a turnoff. You wrote him well. Overall, I only liked him because he made a surprise ending.
The way the plot was heading, I was really holding out for that happy ending. But that twist at the end really made me enjoy this story. So, great job at keeping me interested, and completely off track to where the story was going to end.
Once again, great work! Can't wait to read more. Perhaps I should tell you what I thought of the ending of Solitaire. =)
