I like this. It was very interesting. As for the rating, I really think it's up to you. I can understand what you mean by 12- and 13-year-olds reading this and feeling a bit uncomfortable, but I don't think the bumping up is necessary.
I like how you concentrate on their emotions more as opposed to the kissing, etc. (as some oneshots do). Excellent writing, and props to xoxluurve for adding this to our c2. (:
