Fantastic story, Ken. I agree with other reviewer, you did a brilliant job of maintaining a high level of suspense throughout the story. Good visual details; solid dialogue, and a great description of John. I think this is a pretty good spin-off of the original tale--though by the end, I was almost expecting the detective to start hearing the heart himself. I guess that would have been a little bit cliche.

Anyway, kudos on this. I did the same kind of thing with Poe's "City in the Sea" poem, but I thought about making a short story out of the Raven or something.

Hey dude. Am back in the saddle for a while so I thought I would take a peek at what you've been up to recently. I will review as I read it.
Ok some good strong imagery at the start. Liked the rose line. Ah I see you went for a modern take on it. Not a bad idea as it will make it easier for the audience to identify with it. I loved the original story myself so I find it easy to enjoy this.
Good description of how the detective talks. Not so sure about the description of the killer. I thought he was fairly normal in the story and just driven to a moment of madness by small things. Slipping some semi shakespeare in nice touch :)
Ok finished reading. That was done quite well. I enjoyed reading it. You even managed to slip in a little pearl of wisdom at the end. Great job in all. Good to see you are still writing. Take it easy.
