I'm really liking Jarod. He seems like a really great character. I hope you explore his background more. But, I do like the fact that you've given him a life outside of the pages of this story. The characters all seem so real as well, very well developed. But, the scene at the end of this chapter seemed too short, kind of rushed. Some more details would've been welcome.

Oh my goodness! I was not expecting that... But I'm glad that Damien's going to get what's coming to him. I'm interested in hearing how Damien had a part in his death.

One thing though, in the first two chapters you spelt Erika's name with a 'k', but this chapter it was a 'c'. What is it?

What an intriguing first chapter! I certainly want to know more about all of these characters that you describe so beautifully. I want to know what Damien had to do with Howie's death and how Jarod could possibly help with Cassie's mourning. I think it is very fitting that he teaches Psychology of Death.
