I didn't read the first version of this story so I can't compare the two. The concept of the story is very interesting in general. Very nice twist at the end and the time setting really complimented the story well.

My critique would be to spend more time developing the characters and their familial relationships. In my opinion, the ending would make a greater impact on the reader if characters were given more individual personalities.
