This is a good opening chapter introducing the two leading chacters. But Juliette's supervisor is little more than a stereotype of an elderly sourpuss. Even her name "Agatha" sounds prudishly old-fashioned. A few brief details could add depth to her personality. She might insist on being called "Miss" or "Mrs." indicating that she's an old maid, married or widowed, and hinting at her past life, even if it isn't important to the story.
