Reviews For: Goth, and a Little Bit of Mental Fuckery
Dreaming Maya 2009-07-10 . chapter 1
Jess ... I don't know how to say this ... oh wait, yes I do:

TURN ON THE LIGHT.

Or at least get your age right, you silly git. (jus' kidding)

With so many people arguing over what makes someone "goth" or not, I decided that goth should only be used as an adjective. Goth describes a musical genre, gothic describes an ancient germanic tribe and certain types of barbaris architecture. Gothic describes a particular fashion sense, a style of literature, or a mood/atmosphere.

But I don't think a person can be a goth, exactly.

Cute title, no real substance.

Oh, yes. Ignorance is bad, discrimination is bad, arrogance is bad. A little 403 word ditty on FictionPress isn't going to change the fact that it still happens. If you feel strongly enough about it to write about it, then freaking go out and do something about it.

Peace.

I would definitely agree with what was said in this mini-essay thing. Most of my friends are or claim to be goth (myself not being one) and those who tell me they should go off and die I feel very insulted by. Also the age thing is on the mark, being older does not mean wisdom. Granted one does have a greater chance of being smarted due to the passive increasing of time, but it is only through the active pursuit of knowledge that one improves in such ways.

A problem some might have is that your definition of goth could be considered incomplete. Individualism and the end of corrupting ideologies are two features that are important to my gothic friends. They call for the end of all imposed social orders which they see as corrupt (like the state, they have anarchist ideals).
