First off, I think it's awesome that you can write both music and lyrics =). I tend to struggle with the music part, lol. This song has a beautiful and haunting quality to it that I can't really describe. The lines flow together very well, and I think the rhythm helps with that. I don't know if it was your intention to have an offbeat rhythm in places, but some lines, like "whispers don't lie," could use an extra syllable or two so the rhythm is constant and continuous (ex: "whispers never lie"). And can I just tell you how much I like saying "Midnight Lamplight"? =) Perfect title name.
