Reviews For: the patriarchal society of passionate pursuits
Lux d'Marcs 2009-07-13 . chapter 1
I like this one.

I don't know what it is exactly. It's not as though the piece is especially haunting or resonating- that's not what its trying to get across. It almost seems like a quiet study: just the intimate observations given by two different people who could be anyone and no one. It's more desolate than anything else. These dry hopes. And the last stanza ties it all together beautifully.

-pats you on the back- good job.

Perhaps it’s just with the anniversary of American independence, but I took this piece to be very reflective of our founding fathers. The many pointy-tongued arguments of John Adams on what the Presidents official title should be: “His Majesty, the President, and so on.” As well as the horrible fate that befell women at that time. Lugubrious from child-bearing, all the while burying an infant every year.

I’ve always wondered if people of the colonial period would appreciate the noise of fireworks - they did live through a bloody and ultimately frightening war, did they not? Keep up the good work.

Much love,
Juliet.

"The keys erupting into shimmers." The imagery here is quite beautiful. It's lovely to think that the music one makes on the piano erupts into 'shimmers' of beauty.

"They would play Bach until I died." Hah. I wouldn't mind that, actually. That'd be one heck of a good way to go.

"They would drown in their own tears." Good. I like that rich and powerful people aren't always as 'happy' as they appear to be. You're writing is very honest. The ending is also very powerful.

Keep up the great work. :)
