Interesting, but somewhat cliche. I felt like I have read something like this before, for some strange reason. Nonetheless, I quite liked the bit about vomiting, and how it symbolized vomiting up the illness of the "belief in Christ".
A couple things though, that just might be typing errors (if so, ignore this).
The "sight that fell upon me" should be more like "the sight that loomed over me" since the statue is taller.
And you said "my distraught"; I assume you meant dismay, but yes, distraught does not work in the way you tried to use it. Love you.
