Isca 2009-08-14 . chapter 1I feel it's only right to tell you that I've always been a bit fascinated with Anubis.
"Count the people who laugh like jackals after dark." I've never thought of Anubis as a 'maniacal' sort of god, but I like the sense of horror and fear here that he obviously instills upon people during the night.
"A teacher of lessons." Good description. This reminds me of the 'weighing of hearts' section in 'The Book of the Dead.'
"Of the women who lie down for him." I adore this imagery - it's perfect, shocking, and devilishly vivid.
"Death is like a night that warms the heart." Excellent ending. This reminds me of Anubis' task of bringing the 'good' deceased people through the veil of shadows to meet Osiris. |
