Icyfire4w5 3/14/10 . chapter 1Icarus... I've always regarded him as a tragic figure, who has died too young and too recklessly. I think that different people will interpret this poem differently. To me, the "Icarus" in this poem symbolizes we modern-day people. We always want to pursue freedom, but we often have to shoulder so many responsibilities that we weigh ourselves down with stress. (I can't find "sere" anywhere in the dictionary, is it a typo?) |
Thoth Tarot 11/5/09 . chapter 1-Descriptions/images - they were very beautifully put in a detailed way from from the bones to the way it grew out from your shoulders. although the images are simple i like the last line of each stanza reflecting on the psyche. -Word choice - words used are very fitting however you might have meant serene rather than sere. i liked the way the author used 'you' to make it more personal, perhaps the word choices could done with more variety but the words fit the style of the poem. -Enjoyment - i really enjoyed the poem, easy to read and had direct impact. it was very touching and personal poem to read especially the last stanza and the way it is spaced out. -Subject - the subject for me was about angst, depression, reality and the inability to escape. i liked the simple presentation coupled with flying, however this is a theme that is cliched, but the way you've used the descriptions that is not overly romantic, but rather honest and to the point gives the poem more impact. i really enjoyed reading this poem and the subject although profusely written about in similar fashion has its own originality. very honest work i liked it. |
Isca 8/27/09 . chapter 1"If your bones were hollow." I love this line - it's full of angst. I also really liked the way in which this line connected to the angel/wing imagery in this poem - it's lovely and powerful. The ending is very interesting - perhaps the speaker feels like they cannot become an 'enlightened' individual because they don't have the right mind or body to do so. :) |
