This was pretty good. I like your reason for why people do organize this way. It's definitely part of the reason why I organize some things the way that I do. It really makes things a lot easier than by date.

Nothing against you or your writing, but why would your teacher seriously do something like that? Mind you, I'm a pretty spiteful person so I'd have come up with some completely absurd mathematical forumla just to blow her mind.

But I do agree that alphabetically is the most efficient way to organise things. Dates are nice to have as a reference, but they should be merely supplementary. The only time they're particularly useful is for weeding out outdated information or looking through periodicals & newspapers.
