Eleanora Skye 2009-11-07 . chapter 6As fitting as the ending was, I still held out with the hope that Ada and Archer would find some sort of compromise; that Archer would eventually come to love Ada the way she wanted him to. I am a bit of a romantic at heart, I suppose that's why I secretly was rooting for a happy 'fairytale' ending.
A part of me wishes for you to add an epilogue, to expand on Ada's life after the elopement, on where the painting ends up, etc., but a part of me also wishes for it to be left like this. It is up to the reader now to imagine and wonder how the character's lives continue.
I don't mean to come off as disappointed--rather, I was incredibly surprised. Very satisfied, but very surprised.
I honestly never expected Archer to end his own life. All this time, I had imagined that Ada would leave him, and he would be left to live out the remainder of his life in the agony and angst of not having his muse near him.
Nevertheless, you have made a brilliant ending to a brilliant story.
Brava!
I eagerly look forward to any other future stories of yours!

OnceUponaStory 2009-10-08 . chapter 1I have really enjoyed reading your story. It is very unique, and well written. Is it based somewhat off of "The Girl with the Pearl Earring"? Please update soon! I can't wait to see what the next chapter will hold. |
Eleanora Skye 2009-09-20 . chapter 2I'll have to admit--I was incredibly hesitant when I saw your story revolved around an artist and his muse. Many stories have been written about muses and the men they inspire--many of them very badly. But I must say, I was incredibly pleased to see how well you've handled such a delicate relationship between the both of them.
Your characters are very well developed, and the way that you describe the emotions, feelings, and thoughts of each character is very succinct and on the mark.
I very much look forward to reading more!

 A G Moore 2009-09-20 . chapter 2Another fantastic chapter!
While I admit I'm on the fence when it comes to how I feel about Archer, I do like Adelina! Usually I'm the first to gush over artists (which you could probably guess!), but there's something about Mr. Barry that rubs me the wrong way. I'm not sure if you are doing such purposefully or not, but alas. I do, however, absolutely LOVE Edwin. Haha! One little snippet and I'm completely charmed. He seems like such a sweet, sweet man!
There's only one tiny problem I have. The scenes are so short! I find myself wanting more of SOMETHING. More dialogue, more movement - I'm not entirely sure. This probably springs from my wanting to see more of Edwin, hahah!
I eagerly await your next installment!

A G Moore 2009-09-18 . chapter 1I quite liked this! The storytelling is on point, which isn't surprising, and the characters are very likable. I'm already very fond of Teresa, after mere paragraphs! I cannot wait to learn more about Adelina and Archer, as well, which is always a good sign.
Can't wait to read more! |
