shy7cat 2009-10-30 . chapter 1I am so ashamed of myself, but this was really hot. Like seriously. Hot. Colt sounds like a ** name though and I had a hard time not laughing every time I read it. I like your writing, everything was so vivid. I especially enjoyed your descriptions of Colt's (lol) conflicting emotions. I thought they were very well done, very convincing. Most writers go completely over the top and make me wanna backhand their characters for being whiny. But not you =) I thought it was wonderful how even writing something fairly explicit, you managed to keep it from being totally trashy. I really admire that. Thanks so much for writing this! I love it very much! |
 Bruised Pristine 2009-09-23 . chapter 1Superb.
See I told you that you could write graphic sex and make it tasteful! This was pure gorgeousness, Colt is an amazing character to read, he's so raw and has this incredible air of barely restrained chaos about him. I feel like in the scenes where he's with the stranger in the bathroom this is unleashed and it is incredibly well done because there needs to be this loose, unabashed terror and power and nervous energy. It's almost glamorously vulgar in that I feel like I should shudder and cringe away from it but I can't bring myself to because the way you wrap your words around their actions, the way you help us to feel Colt's emotions and drunken resolve keeps me rooted and unable to look away.
At the beginning what I loved especially though was the way in which you weave a very much tangible isolation around Colt. It's like you acknowledge the fact that Robert and Yani are there but you immediately state 'they're not the focus here, Colt is' and then he just caputres you with his beautiful tragicness. Colt is exactly the kind of character I fall fast and hard for, he's so wonderfully internal that I'm enraptured with every word that you write in regards to him.
Oh and my Lord, you know how to make me happy! The dynamic between Robert, Colt and Yani was positively lovely. I love that you constantly place him the middle both physically and metaphorically because again it makes him the focus and it shows that perhaps he has a higher importance in their lives that we are yet to see. I think what I really like about this is the intimacy of it all, very warm and tangible and fluid. It almost feels like I'm intruding but there's such a languid heat between the characters, a sleepy sort of haze that is a perfect contrast to the sharp, wakefulness I felt when Colt was with the stranger.
I love that the end lulls you into a sort of security before you realise with the funal line that indeed there is something that Colt doesn't want to discuss with them and I do wonder if that might rend them apart slightly with Robert's worry. I'm eager to see what happens next~!
Oh and my darling I do thankyou for the dedication ^_^ it is much appreciated I assure you and really I'm just glad that you liked my idea.
