Wonderful and so tragic!
It reminds me of a war and there is a lonely liing soldier hiding from an enemy among the corpes of his own army.

But should 'hid' be 'hidden' perhaps?

I like the alliteration in the last line, it's someone talking, but it adds poetic rhythm to it.
It's also quite an original subject, I would expect this to be under war, but I guess you had a fantastical image in your head, so I guess the hunter is a more fearsome creature than a general.
