Reviews For: To be in love with Holly Golightly
Faithless Juliet 2009-09-28 . chapter 1
Holly Golightly, like Mary Magdalene is one of those universal portrayals of women. Most women are cast in one of two shadows: The Virgin, and the **, and very few can live separately from one without the other stigma attached. Also, who doesn’t love Audrey Hepburn? And to the person who does not, I simply say: “Loser!”

I liked this poem, it seems like a long time since I’ve seen such length to your work - I feel like you’ve been working with Haiku’s more recently.

I really liked your use of ‘irresistible’ in the opening line, it’s a powerful image. I also liked how you continually went back to the image of this person being helpless, and in need of nurturing, yet at the same time, you describe how they break you apart, which, for me anyway, signifies strength. It makes me think how we can perceive a person, is in fact, quite different from who they may be.

I’m not really wild about the last line. I feel like your use of the word ‘hell’ didn’t fit with the mood of the rest of them poem. It felt very angry, and hostel, and the former sections did not feel like that at all. Keep up the good work.

Much love,
Juliet.
