Ah L.A. ... What more can one say, besides L.A?

I liked your use of 'natives' it makes them sound harsh and uncivialized - as if you the pilgrim were meeting with the red men for the first time. Like encountering something truely different from yourself.

I also liked the refrence to money. In the grand scheme of things twenty dollars doesn't seem like much, yet for a pair of sunglasses it does, although a good pair of Dior glasses run around 500. That whole angle also lends to the 'native' concept afore mentioned. It all blends together nicely. Keep up the good work.
