Ya know, I was thinking of the appearance of a character from Full Metal Panic! when I made Gabriel. His outfit is also Kenshin Himura's outfit (from Rurouni Kenshin) except in different colors. You could also say that about the hair, though...

Anyhoo, I also took Gabriel's name from a book series I read. And I just randomly wanted him to have purple hair.

Also, randomly, the reason for him having a katana on each side of his waist is because he is ambidextrous.
