Reviews For: Dubious Battle
Yusuf 2009-10-16 . chapter 1
Well, when parents tell their kids that they can be anything they want, sometimes they leave out a VERY important detail. And that is, "It will be hard work, and not an easy ride"

But I do agree to keep it practical. Like, A ballerina, doctor, veterinarian, artist are practica. But a princess, maybe not so much.

Does this mean that I'm off the hook for capturing the stars for you? lol

A proufoundly true observation -- that we never know what's going to happen in life -- if not an original one. Children should be told that they can be anything, but not everything. Sometimes deciding what you want to be and giving up all others can be the hardest job.
Did you know that "In Dubious Battle" is the title of an early book by John Steinbeck?

But it is a pity we can't be anything and everything. :)
I like this, especially the ending where you say life is a dubious battle. Great metaphor. :)
