Chaos Descending 2009-11-18 . chapter 6Hiya, this is Chaos. :)
I've sort of gotten out of the habit of reviewing, so even though I've been reading this story since the beginning I haven't really thought to review before this. >.< But I figured that, seeing as I'm enjoying your story so much, I might as well drop a note and tell you as much. :D
I thought, at the beginning, that this story was going to fixate entirely on Tuesday, Silvermin, and Michael on the island. The Rook's entrance surprised me, as did the return to the mainland, and I was really pleased to see this wasn't going to be just another survive-on-the-deserted-island cliche of a story. Then the addition of a backstory for the Rook and the introduction of the other demons had me pretty much falling in love with the direction you seem to be taking this story in.
Additionally, I have to say that though the Rook creeped me out at the beginning, he's rapidly become my favorite character in the entire story thus far. Though he is somewhat predictable in his character, every now and then he has these brief moments where his actions bewilder me completely, and those moments make him a truly fascinating character. I particularly liked how you developed the idea of the Rook being perfectly willing to make Michael's life miserable, and simultaneously being so possessive and protective that no one else is allowed to harm him. I can't think of the exact line now, but I especially loved the piece in this latest chapter where the Rook called Michael his angel--mostly because it showed a sort of warped humanity the Rook seems to rarely display.
So, though I'm an utter spaz who can't seem to review reliably, I just wanted to let you know that I've been reading this story from the very beginning and enjoying it greatly. Please continue updating! :D
Best of wishes,

Kimi 2009-11-02 . chapter 1 Very interesting, Ms. (I hope I didn't get your gender wrong... I'm very sorry if I did!) Snohshine! I was skimming boredly at first, but it really got my full attention when Michael was talking about his father never coming back. I feel so bad for the little guy. (How old is Michael? Around ten or twelve or so?) I'm not a big fan of horror stories, but this one really caught my eye. And compared to a lot of other writers on this site, you have some of the best grammar I've ever seen! It was very easy to read-- and it was even pretty funny sometimes. I like the part about the coconuts. Tuesday and Mr. Silvermin also seem like interesting characters. I hope to learn more about them as I continue reading. The Rook also seems like an interesting but really creepy character. (Is the rook a bird or an actual person?) I'm just so curious about how this will turn out! I await the next chapter if you choose to post it! (Oh, and I'm sorry for reviewing anonymously, I have no account on here. I'm very sorry!) |
