I love this chapter!!

sitting alone driven slowly mad by the silence and the dark.
-- Again, I can see it so well.

The madness seeping slowly into an already fragile mind
-- 'seeping' makes this so perfect

For generations the empire stood built in stone and built in slaughter.
-- Love it :)

He arrived in steel and on a horse with dirt and dust
-- I'm really enjoying your way of describing things, I love that I see everything without there being excruiatingamounts of detail! Yay :D

Brilliant!
So well told. :)
I love these parts:
* they instead weep with sewer water tears
* eyes staring up into a stony sky water drips endlessly into unblinking eyes.

I'ts so sad and vivid. Great imagery as usual. :)

Nice! I'm assuming the man arriving on his horse is Cortez? :)

amazing imagery and metaphors!
i love the first few lines. i automatically got what you were talking about. the whole story is quite ironic actually. :)
suggestion: you might want to have a bit more structure? its your choice but i think structure would add to the flow.
