This was very good satire of yellow journalism, but as I recall, the war started in '98, and not after 1900.

This is a good parody of tabloid journalism oat the time of the Spanish American War. But you were wrong in placing it in the last decade of the 18th and first decade of the 19th. The war took place in 1898. That was near the end of the 19th Century.
