Reviews for Six Degrees or, Why College Is Awesome
natmarie 8/13/10 . chapter 1
I love how effortless it is to get to know your characters. You share without oversharing and show through actions and dialogue rather blabber on in long paragraphs. Your humor is great too. The Hitler line and Princess Bride bit were brilliant. I actually laughed outloud. The whole situation seems very realistic too. Interested in reading it in the other PoVs.

Ah, I am just in love with your writing voice and writing style. I read this before and reviewed back when I didn't have an account. The sexual attraction and chemistry is just g-r-e-a-t. :)

I loved this one! It all seemed so relaxed and sunny and nice!

You write so good. I feel this is LIKE a regular one shot, I mean, it has the same themes, the same ending and everything, but it's so SO much better. The quality you write it with, the choice of words and tone is so much mature. I found myself wondering sometimes if the college setting is perhaps not the right one, maybe it should have been written with older characters or something.

But altogether, a great beginning!

Great story. Great format. Loved the feelings and emotions. A very intense epilogue (favorite part). Keep it up. :D

Only 7 chapters, but it is now my favorite story, without a doubt. Your writing is phenomenal and I think you should write a novel. While yes, the epilogue didn't follow the same format as the previous 6, it tied in well. The story is about love and relationships and since it's set in college, it's difficult. There isn't always a happy ending and I'm glad the final chapter conveyed that. This is great work and I look forward to reading more from you.
FunnyBones 6/7/10 . chapter 7
Dude. Fucking. Incredible. I loved every chapter, every line of dialogue, every emotion, every character, every relationship - every everything, essentially. Wow, that was so incredibly enjoyable to read. Do you know how spectacularly hard it is to pull off that many main characters without a single one of them being even remotely unrealistic or annoying? All the right characters were lovable and all the right ones were wretched.

I loved the epilogue! What a brilliant, sneakily summarizing angle to take - the one that saw it all from the sidelines, but never really had the limelight. Noah had a lot of growing up to do, and the fact that he did it in the context of his friends' experiences really tied the story together in the end. The subtle ways all of the characters were intertwined was delightfully done, mainly because of how realistic the chance relationships were. Normally after reading something like this, I have a clear-cut favorite pair, but I honestly like all three pairings equally. Clinton and Gudrun grabbed me from the get-go, Adam and Jenna kept the fire burning, and then Liz and Boman turned it into a freaking solar flare.

BTW - loved, loved, LOVED the character of the hot, arrogant, model-esque friend. ALTOGETHER too often, authors take hot blonde types and default to giggly stupidity. It's so painfully rare to see a sarcastic, good-looking female get genuinely rebuffed by a bad-boy type (and not in that way where they're secretly intrigued but default to dislike because they stopped maturing after fourth grade). Almost ALWAYS, the unnecessarily derisive girl is the 'refreshing' female lead that throws the Casanova-style charmer for a loop. This, quite honestly, is false. Hot girls can be stupid, but honestly, when has that ever turned a horny player off? Flippant, condescending bitchiness, on the other hand, does, and you captured that interaction so brilliantly. Liz was the kind of girl a guy would be genuinely excited to meet - smart, sexy, but most importantly, charming. Fun. Not at all afraid to let a guy know that she wants him. Again, amazingly realistic, and I applaud you for that. Also, superb job making Liz and Bowman's chemistry sizzle and snap like raw bacon slapped onto a frying pan, m'dear!

I guess the only criticism I have is that you have a few punctuation issues - occasionally after lines of dialogue, you have ("Dialogue." She said.) as opposed to ("Dialogue," she said.) - but other than that, great writing. I'd say in the future, try and keep your love for the rumpled bad boy look (though really, who can blame you?) a bit more restrained, since Bowman and Zane and Noah threatened to cross into the realm of too similar looks-wise on occasion and if that becomes a habit, it might threaten your character diversity.

Seriously though, FAMAZING job, and I can honestly say I thoroughly enjoyed every chapter of this. Best of luck in all future writing endeavors!

Excellent!

I love the part with Clinton, it was great.
kalianne900 5/1/10 . chapter 7
This was a lot of fun ) I really like the way each chapter overlapped the last by a little bit before continuing on, and I thought the six degrees of separation concept was fresh and original. And I thought the epilogue fit in very well with the rest of the short stories. It wasn't as crazy happy, but there was just the right amount of hope at the end. All in all, excellent job.

Wow, I loved it. My favorite part was Adam and Jenna's part, which was undoubtedly the sweetest. You're an excellent writer. I wasn't crazy about Liz and Boman's part (i don't believe in casual hook-ups), but they do make an interesting couple. Once again, you're an excellent writer and the format was disjointed yet connected enough to be exciting. (did that make any sense?)

Why, why, WHY does this only have 40-something reviews? It's ridiculous! I can't believe I've never found this before. It's amazing.. it's real, it's full of life and love as it should be... bumps included. You deserve uncountable billions of props. What fantastic work. :).
