First of all, I love how the title is so appropriate to the context. I also love how so many people could interpret this so many ways - the mark of terrific writing.

I saw obvious sadness, but i saw the metaphor as someone getting washed away in maybe alcoholism as everything in the past two years fell apart.

And I related colors to spots of happiness in their memories getting "washed in gray", or being forgotten.

I know everything will get something different from it...that's what makes it so good!
