This story as made me think in a whole new way. The imagery of the child abuse is heart reechoing and powerful. I was a bit confused abut who the hero was. It was a mouse the whole time. Oh, just got it! :-p. Good Job!

This is a really good piece. I've always been attracted to the concept of heroes...pieces like this mean a lot to me. You have truly captured a sense of what heroes are in words.

That was quite a clever twist at the end; I was sure it was a neighbor, and I wasn't at all expecting a mouse. Some suspension of disbelief required, but you make it fit within the world you set this in. I enjoyed reading this, and the style you wrote it in set everything quite nicely. :)
